Unleash the Nomad Within - Digital Nomad Coaching
Have you ever wanted to leave it all behind and live a life of location independence? Perhaps you already have a job, business, or skill that you can use to generate income from anywhere with an Internet connection. Maybe you don't yet, and are committed to creating location independence for yourself.
Here's my story of how I became a digital nomad.
In the fall of 2020, I created my own online coaching business as part of my vision to create both more love in the world, and the location independence I craved. I knew that if I could work from anywhere, I'd be able to explore the world, share meaningful experiences with the people I love, and create a lifestyle that finally fit my personality.
If you are like me, you've probably always wondered why the more traditional white picket fence, a golden retriever, and a nice car in the driveway didn't excite you nearly as much as your next vacation did. You may have even thought that you were somehow "weird", because all you really wanted to do was to explore the world, create experiences, and be around others that wanted to do the same. You know that your tribe is out there somewhere, waiting for you to join it.
For me, living the traditional life felt like trying to force the proverbial round peg into the square hole. It just wasn't working,
I finally decided to find a round hole, and that has made all of the difference. My only regret is that I didn't take committed action sooner. I'd visited all 50 US states, and 25 countries before I came to the realization that I am a nomad by nature, and I get to accept that I am only truly fulfilled when I am exploring, sharing experiences, and connecting with people from other cultures. It's more than something I "like", it's who I am, and I now own my reality.
It took me a year to move from brand new online business owner, to purchasing my first one-way ticket. I had lots of self-doubt creep in along the way, and it wasn't easy staying clear on my mission, especially when others around me thought I was just dreaming, irresponsible, or perhaps even downright crazy. I'll admit that I lost track of my commitment several times along the way, and nearly sabotaged my whole plan. Fortunately, I received some great support from my coaching friends that kept me on track.
This past September I moved out of my apartment, sold everything I own, and bought a one-way plane ticket to the digital nomad hotspot of Medellin, Colombia. I booked an AirBnb, and spent about a month staying with family as I prepared for my departure. It was both exciting, and scary. I didn't even speak Spanish, and certainly never imagined myself living in Colombia after everything I heard about the country growing up in the 80's.
Fortunately, the future vision I'd created for myself was a lot more powerful than my fears. The story continues, and I am now a full time digital nomad, earning a great living as a dating and relationship coach.
